The string of explosions came to light Sunday, Jan. 12, after the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a damaged mailbox in the 3000 block of Traceys Mill Road.

What started as a single complaint quickly escalated, with investigators uncovering eight additional incidents scattered across the area, including the 4000 block of Wentz Road in Manchester and the 2000 block of Cedar Ridge Road in Westminster.

Officials believe the explosions occurred overnight between Saturday and Sunday morning, with evidence at the scenes pointing to fireworks as the likely cause.

The Office of the State Fire Marshal is urging anyone in the area who may have witnessed suspicious activity or who experienced damage to their mailbox but hasn’t reported it to come forward.

They are also seeking information from drivers or pedestrians who may have passed through the affected locations during the timeframe in question.

Residents with information are asked to call the Northeast Regional Arson Tipline by calling (410) 386-3050.
